One of the main items in my freezer is made of solid gold. And chickens. . .and fish. . . 🙂
Not gold in monetary value, but solid gold all the same. Homemade stock/broth is better than gold when it comes to health, taste, and convenience.
With cold and flu season coming up, there’s nothing like homemade broth soup to warm you up and heal you all the way down to your toes. How does it heal?
The rest of this post (and all the health benefits) is over at Intentional by Grace today as a part of their 9-week Freeze Your Way to Freedom series. Please stop by, check it out, and give me a big ol’ wave while you’re there. 🙂

Way better and definitely monetary by my way of thinking.
Can’t wait till I have my own gold from my own home-grown chickens. :o)
Have a great Friday!
I was just thinking this morning that I need to dig out the slow cooked bone broth I put in the freezer a while back. I have slacked off on making and using it, but I know how important it is for health! Yummy too!
This is a greI am just starting a new homestead related link up, and would love you to join. If you get a moment, come by and check it out! http://www.simplejoyfulliving.com/2012/09/backyard-farming-connection-bees.htmlat reminder to make some stock for fall and winter soups.
Thanks for the invite – looks like a great link-up!
I love to have stock for the flu season too! Thanks so much for all the informative information Paula, it is greatly appreciated as well as you sharing at Mix it up Monday!
There are few things better than homemade stock!!!!
I will caution you that Ball and Kerr don’t advocate freezing in regular-mouth jars. Perhaps it’s just a way for them to sell the more expensive wide-mouth ones, but I’ve never been brave enough to chance it! ;-D
Sarah, I have frozen in regular mouth jars, but I can see why they would recommend the wide mouth – unless you leave a good 2 inches of space they tend to crack and break. 🙂 Speaking from experience!
My Fridge is made of SALMON BACON! ha ha ha ha! I have so much salmon skin in my freezer, people would think I was a cat? Nope, just me. I love roasting it until it’s crispy, I cannot get enough! 🙂
