Fatigue is something that everyone experiences at one point or another in their life. With life comes, work, responsibilities, and a long list of other things that can leave little time for R&R, causing us to feel a bit unenergetic.
When you do feel fatigued, it is important not to turn to those widely accepted, chemical concoctions, that people call energy drinks.
The Dangers of Energy Drinks
Energy drinks are very loosely regulated and contain high and harmful amounts of sugar, caffeine, and vitamin B. These drinks have been linked to many diseases and conditions including; heart conditions, caffeine addictions, headaches/migraines, and insomnia to name a few. All in all they do more harm than good, and there are natural alternatives to give you the same effects without the adverse side effects.
Now, let’s take a look at some safe and natural ways to boost your energy.
1) Coconut oil- Among the many, many amazing benefits of coconut oil, eating a spoonful can help boost your energy because of it’s nutrient density (mainly fatty acids) which fuel energy production in the body.
2) Supplements- Supplements are a great way to give your body everything that it is not getting through the food you eat and help your overall vitality. Be careful of the supplements you take, you want to make sure that they are whole food based rather than synthetically made.
3) Green tea- Green tea is rich with antioxidants which eliminate free radicals in the body that are jeopardizing energy levels. Not to mention it is a great source of natural caffeine.
4) Stretch- Stretching increases the body’s blood circulation, which increases oxygen to the muscles and tissue of the body, which then gives the body an overall energy boost.
5) Sunshine- The sun provides the body with vitamin D and also helps the production of serotonin, which is a mood enhancer and plays a role in energizing the body.
6) Eat a sweet treat- That’s right, dark chocolate is yummy AND contains theobromine, which is a natural stimulant will help get those energy levels up.

8) Jazz up your water- Increasing your water intake will help reduce fatigue, but adding a citrus fruit juice (freshly squeezed) to your water will give you an extra boost.

10) Go nuts- Nuts are rich with fiber, protein, Omega 3 fatty acid, and magnesium which all help the body process and store energy.
We have only just scratched the surface of natural ways to boost your energy. A lot of lagging energy levels have to do with the food we eat. If you are experiencing low energy levels, try cutting out processed foods and focus on foods that are nutrient dense. Eat balanced meals as much as possible, incorporating all of the foods that we have listed above. Lack of energy is also a common indication to gluten intolerance so you might want to try eliminating gluten from your diet as well.
