If you could choose one meal to eat repeatedly – what would it be?
Pizza would get the sweeping vote at our house. It’s not uncommon for us to have pizza once a week – usually on family night when we’re watching a movie or playing board games. Or on a Sunday afternoon when the football game is on. And sometimes on a night I just didn’t feel like doing much in the kitchen. Or. . .well, you get the point. We don’t really need a reason to have pizza. 🙂
In the old days (a.k.a. before gluten allergies) we made a dry-yeast crust with whole wheat flour. After we learned about Travis’s allergy to gluten we changed it to Gluten-Free, Casein-Free Pizza Crust. Then, when candida became a known player in our health, we exchanged the gluten-free crust for our current favorite: One-Ingredient Sourdough Pizza Crust.
But no matter which crust we’ve used, we always use the same homemade pizza sauce. This is a family favorite, and super easy to throw together.
Homemade Pizza Sauce (gluten-free, candida-diet) (for 2 crusts)
6 oz. tomato paste
1 c. water
1 T. dried onion
1 T. basil
2 t. onion powder
3/4 t. garlic powder
3/4 t. celtic sea salt
1/2 t. oregano
1/4 t. pepper
1. Whisk ingredients together with wire whisk.
2. Spoon about 3/4 c. sauce per pizza crust.
That’s all there is to it! It’s so simple and delicious!
